Fortress Of Doom

Not too long ago, Sir Awesome and I found ourselves sitting around at my place with nothing to do. We'd even watched all the Disney movies in the house. We were stuck for fun.
And then, without warning, the aptly named Sir Awesome had an idea... We would make a Blanket Fort; and it would be the grandest and most formidable Fortress in all the land!

The gauntlet had been thrown down, and we had to admit the task was a little daunting...
Despite our fears, we set to work.

We cleared a whole room of floorspace to accommodate for what we envisioned to be a palatial construction. We staggered under the weight of the piles of sheets, blankets and stacks of phonebooks that had to be carried to site. Very nearly stripped the upstairs floor of furniture to construct the skeleton of the Fort. Cushions mysteriously disappeared from couches and pillows vanished from beds...
The frame from a Papasan Couch became a soaring domed roof:
We laboured on.. I've no idea how long it took over all to build, and in the midst of all the fun our antlike industriousness came to a sudden conclusion. The Fort was complete!

It filled and entire room all the way to the walls.

Inside had been so layered with cushions, matresses and blanket that sitting inside was somewhat akin to being inside a hollowed-out (and highly colourful) sponge cake.

And yes, yes it we did have a fun afternoon, watching dvds and eating fruit-loops in our grand, formiddable, Fortress Of Doom.

Pielight

Pielight, the love story of an ordinary girl, and a blackberry pie.... :)

The other day, Jake, Thomas, Laura & I decided to endure denim in the sweltering heat all in the name of blackberries. The great, feral prickle bush that had at some point in the dim past decided our creek bed would be a good place to take root was practically groaning under the weight of the scrawny purple fruit, daring us to risk the outer layer of skin for it.
Challenge accepted.

Needless to say, we picked everything within reach. Half an ice-cream container full later and the sun beggining to set, the conversation began of just what we were going to do with our meagre though magnificent harvest.

Eventually, we settled on a pie. >>

Best. Damn. Pie. Ever! .... Yeah, take that Twilight fans! I'ma EAT THE HERO Mwahahahaa! ...Guess what I'm having for leftovers? XP

Fiend of the refrigerator,

Lemmy :)

Jericho (Sketch)

This is a dry-pastel sketch of one my more troubled characters, Jericho, who has been moping around in the back of my mind for a while now... I drew it in response to a short story I wrote while on holiday (Trains), and was the first thing I'd written involving her. Having finally given her linguistic mention, I figured it was time she was given a face... True to her choices in life, she is standing in the wind and looking more than a little worried...

Budding Blogging Buddies...

My Blog enthusiasm appears to have rubbed off on some of my Facebook-Addicted friends, which has resulted in about half of my "Blogs For Browsing" only containing only one or two posts to date.
Talking with them about it, it seems there's a universal stage of vague trepidation at the creation of a Blog; you write your first ever "Um, Hi..." post and then sit back and wonder just what the fishsticks you're going to do now.
All the looming possibilites:

What do I want to say?
Do I have a Cause I'm speaking out for?
Or am I just Mucking Around?
Should I really be telling every-one and no-one what I had for breakfast??

And so on and so forth...
These days I could almost miss that... that wondering how?, what?, and most of all WHY? They say familiarity breeds contempt, perhaps this is so, perhaps not. I think that once one becomes familiar with Blogging, it becomes like talking to an old friend- you open up and say what you're thinking, but no longer question if this is is the right thing to do.
After all, what're friends for, eh??

So this is a rallying war-cry to all my Budding Blogging Buddies!
Hit it with yer best shot Honeys, savour every delectable morsel of every post, and if after a while you don't feel like King-Kong on cocaine when you put your words, art, ect. out there, then YOU decide whether or not this is for you.

If you put a gun to my head and asked me why blog??, I'd tell you this: We do it because we like it, for the Thrill-of-the-Chase, for Having-a-Voice-and-using-it, and whatever you're getting out of it, the rest is simple:

Damn, is Blogging Fun!
