Okay, so I've borrowed the quote and design elements here, but the picture came out special and it's been requested that I share it. Well, here you go Peaches:

Dust (Short Story)

Dust-

The sky beats down on me, I am still and thinking. I keep waiting for it to be questioned, for someone to tell me this was wrong, that it really does make a difference, but I won’t hold my breath.
Perhaps… No, it was best not to think about it.
The air puckers between my molars, cheeks sucking in air tainted with petrol fumes and dust; leaving a bitterness in the back of my mouth that makes me salivate, wishing for other tastes. The water canteen winks in the sun.
I stare out at the empty road, at my motorcycle boots, my bare feet. Sweat trickles down my calves, ankles; and I am thinking that I may have to question this myself before long, if nobody else will. I tend to think like this a lot -in my more lucid moments- without the roar of the engine beneath me and the land-eating wheels carving the asphalt stretched out ahead to numb me, making me forget. But on that bike I would not give this up for anything. Even if it’s all a waste, even if the peace of mind only lasts as long as the petrol in the tank.
Still, it’s cheaper than therapy.

Defeated again be the seductive call of the machine, I strap the boots on quickly, so keen to be gone I can’t be bothered with socks and am thinking again of the first time I climbed onto that sleek beast and roared away, where no-one could tell me things that smudged like oily charcoal behind my eyes, trying to justify everything. I couldn’t care less for justice, and I hold no illusions on the fact that this cannot last forever. It won’t. But I don’t have to go back either, so I kick the bike into life again, and melt into the beast as it swallows me up.

The Thunder Drums

A storm is coming over the hills. Thunderheads of rolling iron sweeping past our valley. My brother and I took photos:

Just after we took these, a wedge-tailed eagle circled overhead, then was gone.

The Aramada (Comic)

Another bunch of random characters I doubt I'll think of more to do with, The Armada are a thoughtful bunch consisting of a number of misfits that must share the world of a comic strip with each other. Sometimes they learn things, sometimes they are funny, sometimes they are wise, and sometimes they make no sense at all... But that's okay too =]
The first two members of The Armada to be introduced to you in this strip are Pon and Moni. Moni is a moon kept on earth by a weighted blanket, and she's anything but tranquil. Pon Is a stork-legged sea-sponge. He is rather shy, but then, how do you make friends when you are a stork-legged sea sponge?
Without further ado, The Armada.

Fortress Of Doom

Not too long ago, Sir Awesome and I found ourselves sitting around at my place with nothing to do. We'd even watched all the Disney movies in the house. We were stuck for fun.
And then, without warning, the aptly named Sir Awesome had an idea... We would make a Blanket Fort; and it would be the grandest and most formidable Fortress in all the land!

The gauntlet had been thrown down, and we had to admit the task was a little daunting...
Despite our fears, we set to work.

We cleared a whole room of floorspace to accommodate for what we envisioned to be a palatial construction. We staggered under the weight of the piles of sheets, blankets and stacks of phonebooks that had to be carried to site. Very nearly stripped the upstairs floor of furniture to construct the skeleton of the Fort. Cushions mysteriously disappeared from couches and pillows vanished from beds...
The frame from a Papasan Couch became a soaring domed roof:
We laboured on.. I've no idea how long it took over all to build, and in the midst of all the fun our antlike industriousness came to a sudden conclusion. The Fort was complete!

It filled and entire room all the way to the walls.

Inside had been so layered with cushions, matresses and blanket that sitting inside was somewhat akin to being inside a hollowed-out (and highly colourful) sponge cake.

And yes, yes it we did have a fun afternoon, watching dvds and eating fruit-loops in our grand, formiddable, Fortress Of Doom.

QUOTE OF THE DAY -content warning-

Couldn't have said it better myself...

"To those who doubt the importance of grammar, contemplate this: Capitalisation is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse and helping your Uncle jack off a horse." -Ken.
